Obviously Obama wanted to connect with the kids in this speech so obviously he is going to change his approach in this speech a little differently. He starts his speech out by showing the crowd, kids in school, how he understands their situation be it they are going into kindergarden, middle school, or high school. He does this by talking about being nervous on the first day or in the case of seniors, only having one year to go and excited to leave high school for good. A little later on Obama starts talking about all of the things he has done such as talking to teachers and parents to inspire the students but at the end of the day it is the students who are responsible for themselves. I think this was meant to make those who don't try in school feel guilty because all of these people have been helping them and that it really is their fault they are failing. Prior to this part of the speech he talks about how kids including himself that have had extremely hard times growing up but still striving to get an education. This was ment to build upon the guilty feelings of those not trying in school.
After making people feel down and guilty, he tells them that its not too late and there is still a chance for every0ne. He says that everyone has something they are good and and that they need to find what it is. Obama chose to put this immeaditly after making everyone down because it gives them hope that they can be successful and maybe find cures to diseases or invent new amazing things. As a way to ensure that people won't stop tryign when things get tough he talks about successful people like J.K. Rowling and their succes as a result of their failures.
