Angry words have been in abundance in the current health care debate. Americans are so angry and anxious about this topic because it is something that is going to directly affect them. Part of this anger, I think, stems from uncertainty. People are afraid of what might or might not happen. Fear causes people to become defensive and close their minds to others' opinions. Both Parties can agree that there needs to be a change in this system but coming to an agreement on what that change is is not going to happen while the debate is dominated by anger and emotion. People are getting so wrapped up in their emotions that they are no longer considering facts, altough not all the specifics are out there. The emotions people are displaying towards this topic all seem fairly reasonable because of the effect the outcome could have on our lives. The hate and anger is getting the point across in the fact that both Parties cannot agree on a solution, but it is putting a damper on the path to a possible solution.
Anger is overpowering the debate. No debate can be productive when emotions are doing all the talking.
