Healthcare is an issue that hits close to home for many people. It is often a matter of life and death for millions of Americans every year. I guess that is one of the reasons why people are so impassioned about the topic, and also why people can become so angry when talking about it. If you have a close friend or relative who got screwed by the system, or if you believe it to be so, then of course you're going to be angry and passionate when talking about the subject. However, many people are taking it way too far and even getting in yelling matches with the prez.
When a topic is as personal as the death of a friend due to a messed up healthcare system, then people tend to get very emotional, and their arguments are mainly focused on sadness and anger, two things that often lead to yelling and fighting vs. reasoned thought. The fact that Obama is getting almost no where with his healthcare plan in Congress also frustrates many people. This lethal combination of loaded emotions is what is leading to so much conflict over the complex issue of healthcare.
