Obama is a boffo bigshot, as Mr. Pope would say. And I might just have to agree with him. While middle and elementary students may have found his speech intriguing, but to us high schoolers, it was just another cliché-filled lecture. Try hard. Make the best with what you have. You decide your own future. Oh really? Oh why thank you Mr. Obama for another anecdotal story about the American dream. Sometimes I wish I lived in Canada, where there have been no bank failures nor bailouts and everybody gets health care coverage.
Back to the speech, why must everything be so formal with cheesy introductions and then Obama saying hi and everybody cheers? I guess I never hopped on the Obama bandwagon. Oh so I’m a racist aren’t, I? I just don’t find this guy inspiring.
Trying not to stray again, he appealed to young Americans using “hip” terms and product placement like “ipod” and “Xbox,” which was boffo at the very least.
Oh and maybe he could have said the pledge of allegiance, to show those radicals he likes America.
