Matthew Rhys Powell: SPEEEEEECH
Say what you will about OBAMA, but the guy sure knows what hes doing when he tells a speech. while i listened to the speech, my mind would start to wander for just a moment and then Obama would throw out some phrase or change his tone of voice or some other thing and i would b sucked back into his speech. if he can keep a room full of high school students who had just come back to school listening, then hes obviously doing something RIGHT. well, he couldnt keep that one texting girl engaged, but whatever the president of the u s a was saying probably wasnt as important as whether or not LaNiqua was talking about the girl behind her back anyway. obama made a lot of pop culture references, even an Xbox reference that provoked me to say "he knows me!" outloud. he made a Michael Jordan reference, which was smart, because im pretty sure that the kids at that skool REALLY like basketball. these things make the young people say "man, obama knows us, you know what I'm sayin, man, obama's my boy, man, you feel me dawg?" it was also a good idea for obama to get that one overachieving dude to introduce him, becuz then he could open the speech by saying "how bout {guy whose name i can't remember}?!" and get the crowd pumped, get errbody sayin YYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! obama often oscillated between humor and more serious "but yeah for real u really do need to go to skool" messages. and after a solemn and deep conclusion to the speech, when u cld hear grasshoppers, Obama threw in a lil "God Bless America" to provoke some more YYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHs and make sure that everyone left feeling very patriotic. now thats how you do a speech, you feel me?
