Mountain Top Removal- And Why Stop There?

Everyone has heard about how ridiculous mountain top removal is. Companies go in, take the top off of a mountain in order to access vast amounts of coal. Although this stimulates our coal industry it can be harmful to the environment around the mountain, or former mountain, that is.

But why stop at just the top of the mountain? Wouldn't it be better to just get rid of the whole thing? The coal would be easier to access, and a new factory could be built on the previous spot of the mountain. It would create more jobs for the people and boost our economy.

Mountains have always been regarded as main geographic hindrances to easy transportation. We could build new, flat roads across where the mountains used to be. This would better the infrastructure of the state and create a more interdependent economy. That's what we really need in a time like this, when the economy isn't perfect. The environment can adapt to us, not the other way around.

If you're going to hurt the environment, don't do it halfway. I believe every effort should be put into everything one does. Only taking off the top of a mountain is only doing half the job. Finish it or go home, coal companies.
