A Modest Proposal to eliminate sadness in big blue nation during the first semester
it seems like at the beginning of every single school year the uk football team creates a certain aura off sadness. So in order to get rid of this feeling sadness, frustration, and depression that goes hand and hand with football season. And thus, my proposal... it is a simple and "modest" one; all i am suggesting is that we eliminate the UK football team and extend basketball season from august to march. Not only would this make the fans lives a lot easier and for the most part stress free, but it would prepare our basketball players for the extended season that they would see at the next level. And at the rate Calipari is recruiting we will have a lot of players who need this extra practice and conditioning. Now yes the university might take a little hit in their financial income, however if you factor in the money we already get from the basketball program and double that then you are looking at one hefty some of money. And if we make a stadium that could seat a comfortable hundred thousand people then we could fill that at about thirty to forty-five bucks a ticket and be raking in the dough game by game. Also, by eliminating the football team we can get rid of the humiliation surrounding all of our active losing streaks to the great football teams like Florida and Tennessee and the Ole Ball Coach. And yes i know that people would be really disappointed to miss out on tailgating, but we could start our own tradition of tailgating for basketball and increase the unique identity that is University of Kentucky Basketball.
