Road Trip Playlist

This playlist is for a road trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts with my family. For as long as I can remember, my family has gone up to Cape Cod for a hearty chunk of time each summer break, and a lot of good memories come from those times. This list includes both old and new songs.

1. Don't Stop Believing - Journey. Whenever we start a road trip, especially a long one, my sister and I are always really pumped up. This song is just so lively and fun to sing to, I couldn't imagine a better opening to a road trip.
2. Respect - Aretha Franklin. I remember once when we were going to Cape Cod, my sister and I were picking out yet another CD to listen to, and we started arguing about it because we wanted to listen to two different CD's. My sister ended up getting her way, so we put in an Aretha Franklin CD of which "Respect" was the first track. Even though I was annoyed and slightly pouty about not getting to listen to my choice, the song was so upbeat that I couldn't help enjoying myself.
3. Homeward Bound - Simon and Garfunkel. Because my family has gone to Cape Cod every summer of my life, it has become like a second home for me. Our road trips to Cape Cod were also probably the first place I heard Simon and Garfunkel, so this song truely reminds me of Cape Cod.
4. You've Got a Friend - James Taylor. James Taylor is another artist I associate with road trips to Cape Cod. It's also a very soothing song to listen to as a road trip winds down.
5. There is a Reason - Alison Krauss and Union Station. This song is also calming and very easy to listen to. It's a nice way to finish up a long road trip when everyone is tired and worn out.
