This may be a corny idea, but as there are exactly 5 members of my family, I'm going to go with it. So, with no better idea at hand, here are the top 5 songs that remind me of my family. In order of oldest to youngest, this is my list:
1. Early – Victoria Williams: for my Mom.
This is from a CD called Going Driftless: an Artist’s Tribute to Greg Brown. I have no idea who Greg Brown is, but I love this CD. Just my mom and I drove to Beaufort, SC one summer to visit my grandparents down there, and we listened to this album THE WHOLE WAY. This is her favorite song, of the CD and she replayed it about a thousand times. I can’t hear it without thinking of summertime, road trips, and my mom.
2. Cats in the Cradle – Harry Chapin: my Dad’s song
He calls this “the bad dad song.” Although it has nothing to do with him, he has always liked this song (he's kind of a softie). One time, it got stuck in my head so I had to listen to it to get it out of my head, and it was so sad I had to call my dad and tell him that he was a good father.
3. Shady Grove – Crooked Still – my oldest brother, Mac
Mac discovered Crooked Still last year, and this summer while he was home, he listened to this song every time he drove the car. Crooked Still reminds me of last summer, and spending time with Mac.
4. Girl – Beck: for Cal, my other brother
This has a really peppy beat, and sounds like a love song. But, listen closely, and you will hear that he is singing about killing the girl. Cal thought that was a pretty hilarious concept in like 9th grade.
5. Homeward Bound- Simon and Garfunkel: Me
Exactly the type of music I like – mellow and folk-y. I’m so sad that Simon and Garfunkel couldn’t make it work and make more tunes together. I’ve loved this song forever, and listen to it all the time. So, it reminds me of…me.

I love this, rae-rae. I think you're dad's song is really touching and a little funny.
