1) Two Weeks- Grizzly Bear
This song is catchy but also extremely mellow. all the background oohs and ahhs are real nice and add some flavor, but it never reaches a point so climactic that you will find yourself saying "woah i dont feel so chill anymore." also some lyrics are "make it easy/ take your time" so the song also obviously has a very chill message.
2) The Prayer- Kid Cudi
when it comes to chill rap, cudi is usually a sure bet. this song is pretty deep and goes beyond "some applebottom jeans with the boots with the fur". its kinda depressing, but also just a good song, so dont let it get to you. it also includes a great sample from a good band (the funeral by band of horses).
3) House of Cards- Radiohead
what honest chill playlist doesnt include some radiohead? there are a lot of radiohead songs that could land on this playlist, but this is the most fitting one. the guitar hook that plays for most of the song is pretty awesome, and from the initial ooooooooooooooOOOOOooooo a the beginning of the song, you can guess that this song will be laid back. plus thom yorke's voice is like the giant cloud that floats you off into space. this song would also go on my "floating in space" playlist. if you enjoy this feeling, also listen to "weird fishes" by radiohead, but that's more of a "floating in the ocean" song.
4) White Sky- Vampire Weekend
gotta love those preppy ivy leaguers. mostly known for their energetic, non-chill song "a-punk", they deliver a large dollop of mellowness on this song. the chorus is what really makes this one. it goes aaaawwwwwaaoooooOOOOOoooooo. this doesnt mean anything, but if you're in a chill mindset, you're not worried about what is being said but are more concerned with how cool the sounds are. very ethereal.
5) No Other Way- Jack Johnson
jack johnson=hawaii=aloha=summer=shaved ice=hammocks=beaches=smoothies=flip flops= shorts=shady trees=the pool=warm weather=blue skies=no school=not caring about most things. does it get any more chill than that??
6) Redemption Song- Bob Marley
i just did this whole list and realized that i didnt include any bob marley. shame on me
