A Promising Year?

I'm one of many people who make lists of goals, start off strong, and end up stopping about halfway along the year. The sad thing is that I don't try to just... give up. I work hard to achieve these goals, and while I do accomplish some, I still end up relinquishing the rest.

This year is probably going to be similar to the last... and the year before that, and the year before that, and so on. But that doesn't mean I can't try, right?

So, like last year--and all the years before, for that matter--I'm going to go for straight A's, a healthier living style, less procrastination, more organization, and so on. Basically, what everyone else is going to try to do. Something a little more unique? Well, I'd like to reach a higher singing octave without squeaking.

Have you seen that episode of Glee where Kurt tries to top Rachel in singing that high note in "Defying Gravity"? Think of a note about five half steps higher. Yeah, I'd like to sing notes that high without squeaking.
It'll take a lot of working out, and since a few of my All-State Chorus pieces are in that upper range, I can practice them with actual music. I'd like to consider myself a Soprano 1 without hesitating and worrying about the high notes.

I've got confidence, and I know I can reach this goal of I work at it. No stopping midway here.

  1. Good luck with ASC. :P Thankfully there's no Rachel now to compete with, since you've already made the part. (Though for all intents and purposes, notes that high are nonexistent in most non-SATB music. xD)
