A new type of writing

I have only a few goals for 2010. Getting an A in U.S. History and doing well on the SAT are some of the more pressing issues for me. But what of the non school related goals. My goals are not as lofty as my colleague Matthew Powell’s are but they are worthy of mention nevertheless. Goal #1: Every evening get at least 8 hours of sleep. This goal may seem trivial and capricious but if you stop to think, it makes sense. The average high school student that I am in daily contact with gets less than 8 hours per night for some reason or other. The one’s that get 8 hours or more, either do their homework in the morning as they walk to class or are incredibly efficient. Goal #2: get some piano practice done. Music used to be my life but now that I don’t have a life anymore, I have become lax in my practice. I need to start practicing more. I really need to, otherwise I’ll lose my stress reliever and things will go haywire. Goal #3: improve my ping pong and public speaking skills. Although it may not seem so, these two skills walk hand in hand. Any presentation involving the act of speaking is much like a ping pong rally. You need to be careful the entire way and if there are a few slip ups, if you try harder, you may be able to recover. But if you make to large of a slip up, you will find the ball darting past you. The audience’s attention will do the same. Cool. So that’s all I’ve got to say.
