You're Own Adventure...

When I was ten my dad told me the story of a poor northwoods girl he knew in grade school (back in the fifties) who everyone teased so bad for not having enough money or clean clothes or good looks that she dropped out of school and no one ever heard from her again. It was in an attempt to get me to be nicer to this boy I'd been complaining about in my art class. But he told the story with so much regret and real sadness that I took the phonebook and ran to my room and looked for her name over and over again while crying my eyes out. I have no idea why I thought fifty-five years would bring her from The-Middle-of-Nowhere, U.P. to Lexington, but I was heartbroken to not find Florence Lapatchen anywhere in town. But anyways, five years later I threw her name out while talking to my dad in a normal conversation and he was STUNNED. He turned and looked right at me, and asked me quietly "how I knew about that". And I think that's the only time I've ever done anything that's really surprised somebody.
Anyways, my question is what's something you've done to honestly, completely shock somebody? This might not be the most straightforward or creative prompt, but I think it'll bring up some interesting stories.
