Be a lexicographer/entymologist/linguist

English class this year focuses on writing, and all of the subtleties that go along with it. One major part of writing is diction. We say all the time in Timed Writing Congress that this essay has effective diction, or this one has poor word choice, and it factors a lot into how we score the essay. But we all use words everyday, when we talk to each other, write, or even think to ourselves. Words express how we really feel, and can be full of beauty or pain; they conjure up vivid imagery in our mind’s eye. What is your favorite word (or words, if you really can’t choose just one)? What is the worst word ever, in your opinion?

In case you are curious, I hate “colonel” because it looks totally different from how it should be pronounce (KERNEL). It drives me crazy every time I come across it.
