Well, to be quite honest, I don't read non fiction books very often. With the most recent being Fast Food Nation, I'm not very interested in them at the moment either. So how am I supposed to respond to this prompt? Well, from skimming over other peoples responses, I didn't find all too much. That was until I came upon Amanda's/ Lauren's. They reminded me of the authors like Richard Preston, who write non fiction books in an exciting and scary way. When he writes, he gets down to the bare, disgusting truth. It's like a horror movie, we want to turn away and yet we can't. And so the end of the book comes way before the reader expects it to.
When it comes to fiction, this assignment becomes much easier. I can tell you that my favorite author is Sarah Dessen without even thinking twice. She writes from a point of view that I can easily relate to: a teenage girl. But her writing has no meat. When I'm looking for something I can think about I turn to To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I still get the same chills when Boo saves Scout and Jem as I did when I first read it.
